Amazing Watch - classy and dressy

I received my Vario Empire in Gunmetal last week and it arrived very quickly after dispatch. As always with Vario, the whole process went really smoothly and the communication from Ivan was brilliant - he even sent a photo of the package with tracking number prior to it being shipped! As for the watch, it really is superb in every way and I'm extremely happy with it. The design of the finished watch exactly matches the photos I saw prior to ordering and is a true Art Deco piece. You can see in the shape of the case and layout of the dial all the references to 1930's style that's so popular right now yet the case is not something you'll find in any other watch. The case finishing and overall quality is fantastic and I love the way the dial is so intricate even when viewed under a magnifying glass. The open case back shows off movement to great effect and being one of the prettier ones, it's lovely to see and isn't obscured by the winding rotor as it is hand wound. Lovely quality straps finish off this great watch. It feels very easy to wear on the wrist and being 38mm it has a hardly there feel I'm not used to since I generally wear bigger watches with stainless steel bracelets so it makes a pleasant change! Also I think the trend is moving towards smaller watches anyway so it's right on point. All in all, a great purchase; I will be ordering from Vario again and look forward to the next watch....

Excellent and Unique Watch

Case dssign and finish are fantastic. Well above expectations for a watch at this price. I think in this price range, a lot of micro brands will sort of "mail it in". But this is an incredible unique case and the finishing just really brings it all together. It wouldn't be as art deco in a standard round polished case. The details make it! Along with the metallic accents on the dial and the beautiful font of the numerals, it just screams Art Deco. Don't know of another watch quite like it! The hand design is really beautiful. Particularly the minute hand. It is absolutely gorgeous. A true winner. Hour and second hands are of course nice as well. But man. That minute hand. Well done!! The hand winding action is very smooth. Can *barely* feel any resistance. The movement itself is almost silent! Watches at this price tend to be a little loud. But not this one. Nice! The display case back showing off the movement is a wonderful touch. It's such a charming movement, particularly in gold! I love it. The crown really works nicely. On another watch, I’d say it was a little funny. But when viewed straight on with the whole design of the case and dial on the Empire, it fits right in. I love winding this watch. I’m glad the cystal is sapphire. It really makes a difference, as acrylic would have felt out of place. It is a flat crystal, which is nice given that the case is maybe a tiny tiny touch thick for a dressier watch. Though a domed crystal would have also look great on it. Don't sleep on the leather straps. Just buy a bunch of them. You won't regret it. The taper is perfect, and they are incredible supple right out of the bag. Ivan's attention to details on this was fantastic. And he is very responsive to e-mails and questions. I look forward to buying many more Vario products in the future!

Great watch and great service

First rate service as usual from Vario. The kick starter campaign was smooth and delivery was fast. Shipped from singapore on June 12th and arrived in Albuquerque on the 14th. The watch is fantastic and I plan to keep an eye on Vario for future releases due to the great watches and service.

Quality that exceeds the price.

I received the Empire in white with a grey leather strap this week after backing the Kickstarter campaign and was beyond pleased with the overall quality of the watch. Vario have created a unique, elegant design that works surprisingly well for everyday wear. The skeleton hands are perfectly blued and shine with that hue when the light catches them which compliments the very nicely done guilloche dial. The case work is of high quality for a watch at this price - one doesn't expect Grand Seiko or AP levels of finishing here, but the polished and brushed portions of the case are all very good quality work with no observable flaws. The smooth winding Miyota movement seems to be keeping very good time though I don't timegraph my watches, and it's nice to be able to see the movement working through the exhibition case back. The quality of the leather strap is also very high given the price and I was surprised by how supple it is right out of the box - no break-in necessary. I opted for the butterfly deployant which has the Vario logo etched into it - a nice touch. The strap has quick release spring bars and the case has drilled lugs, both of which will facilitate easy strap changes. Overall, my expectations have been surpassed with the Empire watch. Great job, Vario.
