Ten Years in the Making: Creating Vario’s 1st Brand Video

Ten Years in the Making: Creating Vario’s 1st Brand Video

Before Vario, I worked as a motion designer in broadcast and video production.

Storytelling through motion has always been part of my creative DNA, and ever since starting Vario, I’ve had this quiet ambition in the back of my mind: one day, I wanted to create a proper brand film. Not a product reel, not a quick social clip, but a film that captures the spirit, values, and journey of the brand.

The reality, of course, is that brand films are costly. They demand time, craft, and the right collaborators. I knew this wasn’t something we could do casually. If it were to happen, it had to be for a moment that truly mattered.

Fast forward to our 10th anniversary.

Reaching ten years felt surreal. Vario started as a small, passion-driven project and grew slowly, imperfectly, but honestly into what it is today. That milestone felt like the right moment to finally bring this long-held idea to life. I told myself: If not now, then when?

I began drafting the script and storyboards, shaping the narrative around what Vario has stood for over the last decade; curiosity, perseverance, and an independent spirit. I started speaking with production vendors, weighing options, and trying to balance ambition with realism.

Then something unexpected happened.

Jordan emailed me.

He told me he loved the Vario brand and asked if I would be open to collaborating on a video project, simply in exchange for a collection of our watches because he truly believes in the work we do. I remember reading the email and thinking, This is godsent, isn’t it? Sometimes, the right things arrive exactly when you need them.

I shared my work-in-progress with Jordan, and from there, the collaboration took on a life of its own. We refined the script together, sharpened the storytelling, and aligned on the emotional tone. Casting followed, I know I don't have the budget and gave him a wish list and he managed to deliver. I sent him a curated selection of Vario watches to be featured and filmed and the end result surpassed my expectations. Despite the physical distance, the creative process felt natural and deeply aligned.

The final film is a celebration of our ten-year journey, not just the successes, but the persistence it took to get here. It reflects where we came from, what we believe in, and the quiet determination that continues to drive us forward. I hope that when you watch it, you’ll feel the same sense of pride and gratitude that we do.

As a gesture of appreciation and because it feels entirely fitting, Jordan, a genuine supporter and believer in what we do, will be officially named a Vario Brand Ambassador.

Comments on making Vario: Time Reimagined.

When I reached out to Ivan for collaboration, I immediately felt a creative connection to him and his vision for Vario. Through numerous conversations, we successfully captured the essence and prestige of a decade of craftsmanship, and the script came to life.

To bring the story to life, I enlisted the expertise of several DP’s across the nation and guided the narrative from a distance. My objective was to showcase the grandeur and diversity of individuals who cherish and wear Vario watches. The final product is an epic journey that pays homage to Ivan and his remarkable legacy, spanning over a decade of revolutionizing the watch industry through the creation of exquisite watches for the everyday man.
